SIA The Intelligent Partner - Fall 2007 - (Page 10) | S I A W E L COME | DAVID I N G EMI E | SIA STAFF Suzanne Aguas Accounting Manager saguas@snowsports.org H opefully everyone has enjoyed a prosperous, relaxing summer and is anxious for the impending arrival of the 2007-08 snow sports season. We at SIA are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season and have been working hard over the summer, as your association, to continue developing and fine-tuning our products and programs to help you grow your businesses. As Your Intelligent Partner.365, SIA has continued to invest both time and money into research projects with updates and additional areas of interest (intermediate participants) planned for the Model for Success. Phase V of the Model for Success was recently completed and will be highlighted in upcoming months. In addition, the SIA Retail Audit will celebrate its 30th anniversary this season. SIA has worked diligently with Leisure Trends Group and some big-box chain stores to ensure that the SIA Retail Audit will include chain-store sales data once again, providing a more comprehensive overview of retail product sales. We hope that many of you were able to participate in our third annual Fall Education Workshops hosted in seven U.S. cities in September and October. Dubbed “Know Your Customer – Grow Your Business,” these workshops offered valuable research, insight and presentations on how to better understand our snow sports customers and effective ways to communicate and help drive sales. And the buck doesn’t stop there, as several education seminars will be announced in the upcoming months that will take place at the SIA.08 SnowSports Trade Show. Topics will include a Plan for Succession, targeting specifi c market segments, Model for Success, panel sessions and more. Also on the horizon is the announcement of a new retailer marketing initiative providing marketing, advertising and public relations materials to help the retailer reach key customers and sell more products. Special messaging has been developed, as provided from extensive research from the Model for Success, to help the specialty retailer better speak to its consumers and help drive traffic into the store. Additionally, a comprehensive overhaul of SIA’s consumer site, snowlink.com, is well under way with a content syndication plan being developed to allow retailers to directly link to all the content provided on the consumer-driven site. The SIA.08 SnowSports Trade Show will kick off its 37th straight year with many new events, features and faces, a new floor-plan layout and more. For the fi fth straight year, the SIA SnowSports Trade Show has sold out its current floor space and has more than 40 companies on its waiting list. And, just a friendly reminder as you make your plans, SIA.08 kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008. We look forward to the upcoming season and hope you join us in celebrating the business of snow. Consider SIA your source and Your Intelligent Partner.365, as we are here to help you and the industry prosper and to grow your business. We hope to see you in January 2008. ❄ Alicia Allen Associate Director of PR and Consumer Marketing aallen@snowsports.org Laura Benjamin Receptionist lbenjamin@snowsports.org Maggie Bittner Meetings and Special Events Manager mbittner@snowsports.org Dave Blakeslee Manager of Internet Communications dblakeslee@snowsports.org Linda Boodley Office Manager and Staff Accountant lboodley@snowsports.org Judy Brown Project Assistant jbrown@snowsports.org Henry Cho Database Manager hcho@snowsports.org Kelly Davis Market Research Manager kdavis@snowsports.org Mary DeOrnellas Trade Show and Membership Services Coordinator mdeornellas@snowsports.org Debbie Brown Des Roches Director of Trade Show ddesroches@snowsports.org Julie Lynch Edwards Director of Consumer Research research@snowsports.org Sherry Gilbert Print Production Manager sgilbert@snowsports.org Bryan Ginn IT Manager bginn@snowsports.org Patricia Grenke Trade Show and Membership Services Manager pgrenke@snowsports.org Leslie Groves Director of Marketing and Communications lgroves@snowsports.org Sara Hobbs Manager of Board Relations and Office of the President shobbs@snowsports.org David Ingemie President dingemie@snowsports.org Reddy Kennedy Central Region Sales and Marketing Manager rkennedy@snowsports.org Mary Cecile Neville Associate Director of Trade Marketing and Member Services mcneville@snowsports.org Bob Orbacz Director of Finance and Operations rorbacz@snowsports.org Pete Pandoli Coordinator of Education and Special Projects ppandoli@snowsports.org Chris Semon Director of Sales and Membership chris@snowsports.org Mary Jo Tarallo Director of Education and Special Projects mjtarallo@snowsports.org Dave Wray Western Sales and Marketing Manager dwray@snowsports.org Ed Wray Eastern Sales and Marketing Manager ewray@snowsports.org CONTRIBUTORS Jon Rucker is a green building consultant, LEED Accredited Professional and licensed general contractor in North Carolina.
