Some recent successes to benefit YOU: W • • • • • e had our challenges this season but, more importantly, we had several triumphs thanks to you. • • • • Winter Trails had more partners/sponsors than ever with 26; Winter Feels Good introduced new Education Modules; Succession Plan was produced and will be offered in 2007/2008; Fully staffed Association to better serve your needs and requests. – continued to improve and involve our industry friends such as NSAA, PSIA and schools. Two new education modules were introduced for Winter Feels Good and Winter Trails had more partners and sponsors than in the past with 26. The more we can get young people on the snow and loving our sports, the more products we will sell. Summer Snowdown, where mainstream media learns about the latest snow sports trends, was a huge success – 22 members, 52 journalists from 40 publications with a 150 million circulation. The trade show alone had over 3.7 million media impressions. As we move forward, we will be taking a hard look at what we, as your Association, can do to enhance your membership and your business. We look forward to bringing you new businessdriving opportunities over the next year and will provide details in the upcoming issues of T.I.P Our future is bright. . d SIA.07 SnowSports Trade Show: Your seventh trade show was completed without an increase in fees; Two new Showcases were added this year; International attendance at the trade show increased by 22%; Rep and Supplier introduced; Awards were INCREASING BUSINESS AND SELLING PRODUCTS As Your Intelligent Partner.365., SIA continued to invest both time and money into research projects with updates and additional areas of interest (intermediate participants) planned for the Model for Success. SIA administered over 90 research reports and made some significant changes to the Retail Audit and brand share reports including methodology information. Enhancing the theme from last year, SIA continued to evaluate and develop products that can help you compete in this everchanging, challenging marketplace.The Fall Educational Workshops were a hit last year with more than 500 people participating. 5 education seminars, 8 tuning clinics and 2 presentations (Selling to Women and Model for Success) were held. Research: • Over 90 different pieces of Research were conducted to better serve our industry. Member Services: • • Successful in eliminating tariffs on ski, snowboard and XC boots; Launched Moving Product Initiative; INCREASING PARTICIPATION AND AWARENESS Your community outreach initiatives – Winter Feels Good and Winter Trails Contributors Iseult Devlin is a freelance writer who has covered adventure sports travel and health subjects for magazines including Outside, Sports Illustrated for Women, Ski, Skiing and Newsweek. is Senior Editor handling daily news for SkiPressWorld.com and was Editorial Director for the Snowpress Show Daily at SIA.07. recently earned a master’s degree in environmental journalism, while cycling to class every day. A ski industry has-been, he’s worked in retail, wholesale, publishing and resort marketing, and still teaches skiing at Beaver Creek. He’s installed thermal solar panels on his own roof.
