Stone Dimensions - Winter/Spring 2008 - (Page 22) After experimenting on how he could utilize the equipment in his stone business, Nukta, calling on his mechanical engineering background, created a stunning look that mates granite and other stones with stainless and sheet steel. “Considering the fact that we live in a modern age now a days, a lot of people are looking for the modern look and stainless fits right in there. Stone softens the look so you get the best of both worlds,” Nukta explained. The look created by US Marble and Granite can be used in residential and commercial design. Photos on these pages show the range of possibilities. Stainless steel pylons that support a granite conference table and frame stone at a receptionist’s desk in an office environment. Brushed stainless steel wall tiles in a lavatory at US Marble and Granite, granite tables, fabricated stainless steel supports for countertops in a kitchen and much more, including stainless backsplashes and inserts. Nukta says there was quite an extensive learning curve in getting the two materials to work together. “Stainless takes quite a bit of work,” he said. Several designers and fabricators in the U.S. are marketing stainless/stone products offered by US Marble and Granite.
