Director Frank Beck Beck Industrial During my 15-year tenure at TACA, with the last five years as the association’s president, we have achieved many milestones. Victories at the State Capitol, the implementation of a burgeoning promotion program, establishing a Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program at Texas State University, and the success of our newly formatted Truck Driving Championship at Texas Motor Speedway are all fine examples of our increasing success as an association. Conversely, we have had our share of obstacles to negotiate, as well. However, through sound leadership by our chairmen and the respective members of the board of directors, TACA is presently poised in our strongest position in the history of our association. I am proud to announce that all of our hard work was recently recognized when TACA was chosen as this year’s recipient of the Association of the Year Award by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). This prestigious award, which is presented annually at the NRMCA Convention, recognizes the state ready mixed concrete association making significant progress for the industry in the areas of promotion, education, advocacy, and research. It will be my privilege to accept the award on TACA’s behalf at the NRMCA Awards Breakfast on March 10 in Las Vegas during the Con Expo/Con Agg Show. What is noteworthy about this achievement is that it recognizes TACA as the finest organization out of the 54 other association affiliates that represent our industries across the nation and abroad. Moreover, it bears recognition that this award is truly a team effort by the TACA staff and our fine members. During the judging process for the award, it was noted that TACA had a tremendous story to tell regarding the evolvement of our association over the past six years. Our successes with governmental advocacy, our record TACPAC fundraising efforts, and the measured strides that we have made in the area of product promotion stood out to the judges as compelling achievements. Even though TACA is the recipient of the 2008 NRMCA Association of the Year Award, we can hardly look at this milestone as the culmination of our efforts. As an organization, we still have a lot of work to do and will always strive to be a better association to our members and our industry. So, congratulations to the TACA membership as a whole for being an integral part of this award, and let’s roll up our collective sleeves to continue our work in making TACA an even better association.
