TACA Conveyor - Summer 2008 - (Page 11) TACA Wins NRMCA Association of the Year Award execution of a comprehensive product and industry promotion program that will measurably increase the implement and use of concrete, cement and aggregate products in Texas. It noted that TACA’s new marketing/technical standards staff has already successfully promoted the use of 91,000 cubic yards of concrete, 19,000 tons of cement and 137,000 tons of aggregate, resulting in a considerable benefit to TACA members’ bottom lines. The NRMCA also mentioned TACA’s role as an organizational force in the establishment of a Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program at Texas State University, and its continued steady program of legislative and regulatory advocacy, educational offerings and support of industry research. “TACA and its members should be very prideful of the recognition afforded to our association by our peers at NRMCA,” says Stewart. “This award magnifies the hard work and commitment to excellence put forth by all TACA members from the chairmen of the board all the way to the TACA staff. It is indicative of a successful collaboration of many, and truly is a team achievement in every sense of the term. “However, this acknowledgement does not signify the apex of our aspirations,” Stewart continues. “We understand that we have a great deal more to accomplish and look forward to lowering our collective shoulders to the wheel along side our colleagues at the NRMCA and the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association in a continuing effort for the advancement and betterment of our associated industries.” TACA Conveyor • Summer 2008 11 The Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association is going strong, and the success of its efforts and activities has now been recognized throughout the United States. The judges felt that both states had exemplary entries, and were deserving of recognition. TACA President and CEO Michael Stewart accepted the award on behalf of the association on March 10, during the NRMCA annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rose Mary Clyburn, vice president national accounts at Cemex and TACA’s current vice chair, proposed TACA for the award. “I have been afforded the opportunity to work within the leadership of the association and witness the maturation of our fine organization,” she wrote in her nominating letter. “Under the steady guidance of our Board of Directors and our President and CEO, Michael Stewart, TACA has grown from a struggling statewide trade association to one that is more united, member driven, and financially solvent than ever before in our 52 year history.” In announcing the award, the NRMCA cited the list of TACA’s recent accomplishments, including the development and
