A total of 303 guests (72 participants, 55 judges, and more than 176 family members) enjoyed the competition, children’s activities, barbeque dinner, and awards ceremony. T XI held its Seventh Annual In-House Truck Roadeo at the North Texas Camey Plant on March 1, 2008. This year all regions participated in support The overall winner and top scorer was Aureliano Estrada, North Texas Ready Mix Driver. The Roadeo is designed to make a real contribution to the safety program. As a competitive event, it gives employees a chance to test their job skills. The Roadeo is an expression of the concern of management and employees to improve safety. The Roadeo also allows employees to show their families how much skill is involved on a daily basis. Participation in the event can pay year round dividends through improved performance and reduced accidents. Texas Winners will represent TXI at the Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association’s Annual Truck Driving Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 12 & 13, 2008. NRMCA Promoter Of The Year – Barrett Reese By Jamie Rogers, VP Consumer Products, TXI the value TXI delivers to our communities. Over the years, Barrett’s energy and passion have been devoted to innovative products such as MAXIMIZER concrete mix and Diamond Pro. Recently, Barrett’s focus has been on new cement based, environmentally friendly soil stabilization solutions. On a state and national level, Barrett has leadership positions in the Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association, Cement Council of Texas, and the Portland Cement Association. He supports the National Ready Mix Association by serving on the Marketing and Promotion Committee. He was instrumental in helping to fund an important study on the multiple benefits of concrete paving (vs. other surfaces) on fuel mileage and emissions. This study is sponsored by the RMC Research Foundation and will be conducted by University of Texas at Arlington.
