INDUSTRY NEWS Joseph Rizzo Named Director of Business Development for the Cherry Companies H ouston (March 10, 2008) – Joseph Rizzo has been named Director of Business Development for Cherry, the industry leader in high-quality demolition, aggregate supply, stabilized products, and road removal. In his new role, Rizzo’s responsibilities include sales, public relations and marketing for Cherry corporate. Rizzo, who joined Cherry eight years ago, served as the division manager for Cherry Concrete Removal, where he was responsible for the daily operations of the Trucking Division and Concrete Removal Division. In addition to management positions in the health care industry, Rizzo previously was a ﬁre ﬁghter and paramedic with the City of Houston Fire Department. He attended the University of Texas Paramedic School, San Jacinto College and Houston Community College. Jay Marak Named Corporate Safety Director for Cherry aggregate supply, stabilized products, and road removal. In his new role, Marak will be responsible for overseeing Cherry’s safety department to help ensure that Cherry continue holding one of the lowest EMR rates in the industry. For more than 40 years, Marak has held executive and managerial positions in the construction industry — particularly in the area of safety. His primary responsibility in these positions were to manage the safety program of the company, which he accomplished by conducting multiple safety training courses, and implementing new employment and company policies. Most recently, Marak served as the Principal for Marak Safety Service.
