Margaret has 20 years of experience in the meeting and hospitality industries and she is a seasoned professional with practical experience and a solid understanding of the hotel industry. Dwain James will be leaving American Collectors’ Association to take a job in the public sector. Segi Desta has announced, after 17 years with the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, she will be stepping down from her position of Vice President and Chief Operating Ofﬁcer. Her last day was to be July 31. The National Athletic Trainers Association received an Award of Excellence in the second round of judging for ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership’s “Associations Advance America (AAA)” awards for their Heads Up – Spearing Education Campaign, which worked to change the rules governing collegiate football to ban “spearing” (head-ﬁrst tackling). Tracy Purcell has been promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing at The Driskill Hotel in Austin. Tracy has worked in the hospitality industry for 21 years and has been with The Driskill since 2003. Julie Moss is the new Director of Sales for The Driskill Hotel. Julie has 22 years of hospitality industry experience and will manage the group sales team effort as well as handling the citywide and Texasbased association markets. Marcie Funchess, CAE was honored and inducted as a member into the Hall of Fame by the Texas Sign Association. Marcie served as Executive Director of TSA for 26 years and recently became Executive Director of the Independent Electrical Contractors Association of Fort Worth. Cheryl Smith (WEAT Association Manager) and The Water Environment Federation of Texas received the Outstanding Member Association award from the Water Environment Federation. Congratulations to Dana Williams (Dallas CVB) on the birth of a little girl, Ryan Lindsay, born on July 26. Dena Rambo (also with Dallas CVB) doubled her blessings with twin babies – one boy (Jaxson) and one girl (Landry) – born in the spring. Joe A. DaSilva, CAE, Senior Vice President, Texas Hospital Association, will be leaving THA after 28 years to start a private lobby ﬁrm.
