s the responsibilities and capabilities of the fire service have broadened over the past 35-plus years, so has the need to deliver these vital emergency services in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Due to the recent economic situations experienced throughout the country and around the world, efficiency, now more than ever, is a very dominant factor in any organization’s decision making. Fire departments around the country have been faced with this realization. “Are you making best use with what you have” and “are there any changes your department can make to operate in a more cost-effective manner” are questions many fire departments were rarely asked before, yet now routinely experience.
