Communications Crossroads - Spring 2008 - (Page 16) business advantages USTELECOM: HELPING TURN KNOWLEDGE AND GROWTH INTO PROFIT AND SUCCESS USTelecom’s executive business programs are developed by and for today’s industry executive—offering informative, compelling opportunities for industry professionals to network, learn, and share ideas with their peers. Through the newly formed Leadership Committee, USTelecom members are the ones to set the association’s educational and networking agenda. USTelecom launched some new programs in late 2007 that were tremendously successful. The inaugural Executive Business Forum in San Jose created an excellent opportunity for industry executives to hear firsthand about the key technology and business issues that are shaping their companies’ future growth and evolution. The event’s focus on the business ins-and-outs of successful broadband deployment was in direct response to our members’ interests. At the forum, 250 telecom executives and representatives from technology and financial firms were treated to lively and in-depth discussions on a range of issues facing telecommunications companies. The two-day gathering covered the gamut of issues, from broadband deployments, to the upcoming 700 MHz wireless auction, to the financial outlook amid a surge in industry M&A activity, to the innovative strategies, technologies, and services in broadband and wireless USTelecom’s members are actively pursuing. Other professional development opportunities include annual tax and engineering summits that bring together top professionals in these critical fields. Featuring representatives from Congress, relevant agencies like the FCC and FTC and other outside experts, these USTelecom events explored timely, member-defined topics that impact the health and growth of telecom businesses. USTelecom will continue to offer a slate of opportunities throughout the year for continuing education and development. Working to make the most of your valuable time, these events include webinars on cutting-edge network topics, such as broadband delivery of educational resources, administration of e-health networks, and cost-effective transitioning from traditional to IP-enabled services. Members also are collaborating on a series of technical papers exploring engineering best practices—leveraging USTelecom as a central forum to collectively develop innovative industry-driven solutions. Through the efforts of USTelecom’s Leadership Committee, USTelecom is committed to developing educational and networking activities and events that help telecom carriers compete and succeed as today’s new broadband world unfolds in real time.
