Streamline - Summer 2012 - (Page 28)

THIS YEAR’S CONFERENCE kicked off with beautiful weather for our annual golf tournament and clay shoot that were both held bright and early on Monday morning. Some attendees elected to attend either our Math class or new this year, our Emergency Management course. Those who attended one of these courses earned 7 CPEs. We closed out the day with a sneak peek at our exhibit hall with light refreshments. Our training sessions began bright and early Tuesday morning after attendee registration and breakfast in the exhibit hall. The VRWA annual business meeting was held mid-morning with your VRWA President Mark Estes giving the welcome, opening remarks and introducing the Board of Directors, VRWA Staff and guest speaker – Charles Hilton (North Carolina) with NRWA Executive Board Member, who was reelected to serve another two-year term with Pam Baughman, (Region IV) with Louisa County Water Authority and Tom Delbridge (At-Large) with City of Emporia. Training sessions continued after the annual meeting throughout the rest of the afternoon. Our old friend, the Mayberry Deputy, lurked around and joined us at our Casino Night – Roanoke Style in the Crystal Ball Room that evening. Attendees got to try their luck at the tables, get caricatures of themselves or photos with “Barney.” Even “Elvis” (a.k.a. Justin Prillaman with REIC Laboratories) made a surprise appearance. The Mayberry Deputy closed the evening by handing out prizes sponsored With tby our corporate members. 2012 VRWA Award Winners Water Taste Contest Winner Town of Stanley Ronnie McCoy and Terry Pettit accept the award.
