FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do I start?
There are a few ways to go. Check us out at ncl.com for
everything you need to know about us. If you're ready to book
a cruise, just call our friendly Cruise Consultants or contact
your travel professional. We can also assist you with our
special air accommodations, hotels, transfers and more.

What should I pack?
Freestyle Cruising is not too dressy, not too casual. In fact, you'll
find that there are really only two types of attire you'll need.
Our newest event, Norwegian's Night Out, is the perfect
opportunity to head to the spa for pampering and then get
dressed up for an evening of cocktails, fine dining and great
entertainment. It's your chance to get your portrait taken with
your family, that special someone or even the Captain. You
may also want to pack all-white for our iconic White Hot
Party. Check your Freestyle Daily on board for more details.
The atmosphere in the mid-ship dining room, the buffet and most
of our specialty restaurants is contemporary, so cruise casual
attire is perfect. For women, this includes summer and casual
dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, dress shorts, jeans and
tops. Khakis, jeans, dress shorts and casual shirts are fine for
men. Swimwear is acceptable only at the buffet and outdoor
grills, and a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required.

RETURN to a U.S. Port (and vice versa): A valid U.S. passport
is required. For sailings within Europe or South America: A
valid U.S. passport is required. Round-trip Hawai'i sailings:
Only a government-issued photo I.D. such as a driver's license
with photo or a passport is required for inter-island Hawai'i
sailings. Important: Norwegian strongly recommends that all
guests travel with a valid passport. If a guest either misses
the ship at its scheduled U.S. departure port and needs to
travel outside the U.S. to meet the ship or unexpectedly needs
to depart the ship from a foreign port prior to the end of the
cruise, a passport would be required to leave or re-enter the
U.S. by air.

What if I'm pregnant?

Note: Baptismal paper and hospital certificates of birth are
not acceptable. A voter registration card or Social Security
card is not considered to be proof of citizenship. For U.S.
naturalized citizens, in the absence of a passport, original
naturalization documents plus a valid picture ID issued by a
federal, state or local government agency is required.

No worries. We have a "Cancel for Any Reason" coverage
option available when you purchase our Travel Protection

Cruise Documentation

Rest assured we will make every effort to accommodate
you. However, to ensure your medical safety, we require
that you will not have entered your 24th week of pregnancy
at the time the cruise ends. Please provide our Access Desk
with a medical certificate establishing your due date and
fitness to travel prior to your cruise. Please be aware that
we will not be responsible or liable for any complications of
pregnancy that arise or occur during the cruise. If you have

How many suitcases can I bring?

* Service animals are permitted on all our ships.

Accommodations; transportation to some of the most beautiful
places on earth via cruise ship; dedicated Kids & Teens (ages
3-17) programming and spaces during at-sea days until 10:30 pm
and from departure until 10:30 pm during port days; meals in the
complimentary dining venues (i.e., up to three Main Dining Rooms
on every ship, a buffet and 24-hour dining venues on select ships);
Outdoor Buffet (on select ships); Pool Bar and Grill (on select
ships); Coffee Bar (regular coffee and pastries included; specialty
coffees and Carlo's Bake Shop treats at nominal extra charge);
iced tea, some juices in the buffet (for breakfast), regular coffee,
tea and ice water; all entertainment on board unless it's part of a
dining entertainment production (with the exception of Legends
Unplugged on Norwegian Epic); art auctions; poolside activities;
access to Fitness facilities; select onboard presentations; Sports
Court activities; use of outdoor pools and hot tubs; in-stateroom
TV programming (except for on-demand movies); phone calls
onboard the ship (stateroom to stateroom); use of private Studio
Lounge if staying in a Studio on Norwegian Epic, Norwegian
Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Escape or Pride of
America. Suite guests receive additional amenities based on the
category of accommodation.

Each guest is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage
on board, with each piece weighing a maximum of 50
pounds. However, if you are traveling by air, ask the airline
if it has different restrictions. Airlines and Norwegian Cruise
Line have limited liability for loss, so be sure all baggage and
personal belongings are properly insured. Suitcases should
be tagged. You should hand-carry medication, jewelry or
other valuables, identification, cruise documents and all other
important documents.

* Many staterooms have refrigerators to store medications
that must be kept cold.

What's not included in my cruise fare?

If you choose the more sophisticated atmosphere of the aft
main dining room or Le Bistro, we ask that men wear jeans or
slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toe shoes. For women,
it's slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. The exception is
on embarkation day when all dining venues are cruise casual.
Traditional Bermuda shorts, along with long socks, loafers
and a blazer, are all acceptable during a Bermuda cruise.
We want you to be comfortable, but tank tops for men, flip-flops,
baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes
or tears and worn below the hips, are not permitted in any of our
main dining rooms or specialty restaurants. Kids 12 and under
are welcome to wear nice shorts in all dining venues.

What travel documents do I need?
It's important that you provide us with your key personal
information (passport numbers, etc.) in advance. Visit
www.ncl.com/mycruises and fill out the online check-in
form. Be sure to check with your travel professional or
the appropriate authorities before your trip to determine
requirements for inoculations, passports, visas and other
mandatory documentation. Cruise refunds may not be issued
if you are denied boarding due to lack of proper documents.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced
an update to passport requirements for U.S. citizens traveling
by sea effective June 1, 2009. Since June 1, 2009, the U.S.
Government requires the following proof of citizenship for our
guests: For sailings that DEPART from and RETURN
to the SAME U.S. port: Guests only need proof
of citizenship and a government-issued photo
ID (a valid driver's license with a photo). Proof of
Citizenship examples include an original or state-certified
copy of a birth certificate, a valid passport, a U.S. passport
card, enhanced driver's license, certificate of naturalization,
certificate of citizenship or a report of birth abroad. For
open-jaw sailings ONLY (cruises that DEPART from
one U.S. port and RETURN to a different U.S. port
such as repositioning cruises): Guests are required
to carry a valid passport, U.S. passport card or enhanced
driver's license, as well as have in their possession all relative
visas that pertain to their travel itinerary. Permanent residents
of the U.S. are required to carry their valid ARC cards for
boarding AND passport from their country of citizenship,
if available. For sailings that DEPART from Canada and

All eDocs will be available up to 60 days prior to departure,
provided full payment has been received. You or your travel
professional will be notified via email when your eDocs
are ready to be printed. Please reconfirm your flight details
with the airline at least 72 hours prior to departure as flight
schedules are subject to change after airline tickets are
issued. You will be provided with baggage tags for your ship
that you will need to fill out completely and affix to every
piece of luggage, including carry-ons.

What about people with special needs?
We welcome guests with special needs. Just a few quick notes:
* Let our Access Desk know of any special needs at least
eight weeks prior to cruising.
* All of our ships have designated staterooms to accommodate
wheelchairs and guests with hearing impairments. These
staterooms are subject to availability.

* If you require any medical equipment, such as wheelchairs
or oxygen therapy (liquid oxygen is not allowed on board),
please provide your own as we do not have medical
equipment available on board. Alert our Access Desk in
advance so your equipment can be cleared before departure.
* Though we do have wheelchairs on board for emergency
or isolated incidents, guests who require full-time use of a
wheelchair must provide their own, and they must be the
small, collapsible type, able to navigate over a 5"-6" riser
in regular stateroom bathrooms and through bathroom
doors that are 20"-22" wide. Motorized wheelchairs and
scooters are welcome as well; however, they must be
powered by gel-cell batteries. Due to safety regulations,
we will not accept any wet-cell or acid-battery-powered
wheelchairs on board the ships. The wheelchair battery
charger must be adaptable to 110 volts.
* Due to unpredictable circumstances associated with a
ship at sea, we must reserve the right to refuse or revoke
passage to anyone who, based upon objective standards,
is in a physical or mental condition that jeopardizes the
safe operation of the vessel, who poses a direct threat to the
health or safety of others or who may require care beyond
that which we can provide.

Service charges/gratuities, meals in specialty restaurants,
entertainment-based dining, alcoholic beverages, sodas
and some other nonalcoholic beverages, Room Service
convenience charges and à la carte menu items, spa and
salon services, exercise classes, casino, dining entertainment,
transfers (unless pre-purchased with Air/Sea packages),
hotel stays pre-/post-cruise (unless pre-purchased), Shore
Excursions, photography, Internet access, group babysitting
services, Specialty Onboard Seminars, art purchases, gift
shop purchases, video arcade, phone calls off the ship,
satellite connection for cellular phones, laundry services, use
of the Medical Center, government taxes and fees.

How do I pay for onboard expenses?
For your convenience, all shipboard expenses are
charged to your onboard account. Sign up when you
check in, establishing your method of payment with Visa ®,
MasterCard ®, American Express®, Discover ®, JCB Card or
Diner's Club ®. You may also use your debit card; however,
please be advised that we obtain pre-authorization, as we
do for all credit cards, and some banks hold these funds for
up to 30 days. Traveler's checks or cash can also be used
as a method of payment to settle your account with an initial
deposit paid in advance.

What about currency?
Traveler's checks, debit cards and most major credit cards are
accepted in most of the ports we visit. Be sure to bring proper
ID and carry a small amount of local currency if possible
when visiting foreign ports.

What time is dinner?
Whether it's 5:30 pm or 10 pm, we want you to eat when
you're ready. We have up to 28 dining options, depending
on the ship, no assigned seating and at least one restaurant
open 24 hours - so show up whenever the mood strikes.
And if dining à la pajamas in bed is in order, Room Service
is at your service 24/7. A convenience charge may apply.
Reservations are recommended for all specialty restaurants.
