S ydney-based Fairlight can fairly be billed as a digital pioneer with over thirty years in the field. It developed audio sampling, music sequencing, and other key technologies used in today’s industry. Last year, 2007, the Fairlight team unveiled – at IBC in Amsterdam and AES in New York – its latest invention: Xynergi, billed as ‘the world’s first unified media production centre’. As part of a major refurbishment, one of Melbourne’s leading sound post-production facilities, Soundwaves, is installing two CC-1 powered Constellation film mixing consoles and a Xynergi Media Production Centre. The latest Fairlight technology in the hands of the accomplished Soundwaves team is a combination that will result in one of the most technically capable and creative sound postproduction facilities in Australia. Fairlight is providing Soundwaves with a completely integrated workflow solution that will cater for the most demanding projects, supporting up to 230 channels of mixing in all formats – up to 7.1 for cinema, with full HD digital picture. The inclusion of a Xynergi Media Production Centre will further enhance Soundwaves ability to deliver high quality audio finishing in all mixing rooms. Soundwaves Director Andrew McGrath comments, “We’ve long searched for a truly effective and comprehensive system that complements our focus on delivering sound mixes to the highest creative and technical standards. The innovative Fairlight technology and its vast user-friendly capabilities will significantly enhance our ability to provide great results for our clients.” Fairlight’s Sales & Marketing Director Stuart DeMarais says, “This is a very exciting project for us to be involved in.
