APRS BULLETIN the professional recording association the summer/autumn 2008 APRS Sound Fellowship Awards Lunch 2008 he APRS is holding this year’s Sound Fellowship Awards Lunch at the Roof Gardens in Kensington on Wednesday 19th November. A special feature of the lunch this year will be the appearance of legendary personality and star musician Rick Wakeman who will be proposing one of toasts to the Past, Present and Future of the APRS. Rick, who is known for his library of anecdotes of his experiences as a session player since the 60s has even offered to give us a tune if there is time during the festivities. The nomination process for the APRS Sound Fellowships has been opened-up to the entire APRS membership. There are no speciﬁc categories of Fellowship – APRS Members are simply invited to choose six individuals who they think should be “Recognised for their special contribution to T the art, science and industry of sound recording”. The focus should be on “achievement” and “innovation”. The nominees could be inventors, manufacturers, legendary studio engineers, maintenance Gods, producers, artists, managers, broadcasters - anyone at all who has had a positive impact upon the recording sector as a whole… and they don’t have to be close to retirement! Nominations, which should include the name of the proposed recipient, together with a brief description of why he/she is proposed, must be received no later than Friday 26th September 2008. Once the ‘full nomination list’ is collected it will be presented to a panel of qualifying members who form an ‘Awards Academy’. The APRS Board and other members who have expressed an interest in taking part in the Rick Wakeman Awards Academy process, will vote for their six favourite contenders.
