A statement issued by the company said, “Polar Audio is the exciting new face of beyerdynamic GB, and brings to the market an innovative approach to distribution. beyerdynamic GB has always been an independent company, but as such it has conducted its operation as a distributor in the image of beyerdynamic Germany. This of course has had huge advantages, but in many ways it has coloured our image and led to some inaccurate perceptions of who we are as a company today.” The first annual Regeneration Tour has been filling amphitheatres and arenas across North America, as fans turned out in droves for a jam-packed evening of ‘80s artists including The Human League, A Flock of Seagulls, Naked Eyes, Belinda Carlisle, and ABC. Delivering the musical variety is a Meyer Sound system featuring the Milo line array loudspeaker. FOH engineer Wayne Pauley says, “It’s a lot of fun hearing what it does for that classic 1980s drum machine kick and snare. Polar Audio + () www.polaraudio.co.uk SSE And Brit Row Add More Midas Midas confirmed at PLASA that the first UK clients for its new PRO Live Audio System are SSE and Britannia Row, who have each purchased six PRO systems. Each company also owns two XL Live Performance Systems, making them the UK’s only XL rental suppliers, together with EFX Audio in Scotland. “We already have our XL s lined up for a busy autumn,” says Britannia Row’s Mike Lowe. “Oasis are taking the first XL out for the autumn touring season for their UK arena tour, from late September until early November. They have been using an XL in rehearsals since June. They are now on the first shows of their world tour in the US and Canada, and have been getting great results with the XL . We now have three tours that are keen to take out our first production PRO s, so watch out for further details very soon.” Adds SSE’s John Penn, “Since the XL launch, Midas has been developing the software and improving the features in response to user requests. Both companies are new ventures in the UK and this means fresh thinking and the positive attitude we need to succeed.” w www.ateis.co.uk Meyer Power The Beatles On September , Paul McCartney delivered a historic performance in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, nearly years after the Israeli government banned The Beatles’ show in for being too subversive. Slovenia-based Festival Novo Mesto and Israel’s Kilim Electronics provided a powerful Meyer Sound system for the event. The main system comprised two hangs of MILO line array loudspeakers, augmented by two sidefill arrays of ten more MILO boxes each, and several UPA- P loudspeakers for frontfill. Forty-eight -HP subwoofers covered the low frequency and two towers of ten MICA line array loudspeakers served as delays. McCartney’s long-time FOH Engineer Paul ‘Pab’ Boothroyd is under pressure from McCartney's fans. He explains, “People have an attachment to these songs, and it’s my job to reproduce them faithfully, with the vocals and the hooks as they expect to hear them. The MILO array does a great job of delivering that degree of accuracy, with a focus that will cover every seat in the house.
