Bangalore transcended into the Rock Capital of India with an international concert that featured three prominent Indian bands, Slingshot, Rainbow Bridge, and Extinct Reflections, and two Norwegian popular acts, Sahg and Satryicon. V&P Sound deployed an extensive Harman sound system that featured Soundcraft’s Vi6 and included products from JBL, Crown, dbx, and AKG. The sound system consisted of 20 JBL VertecVT4889’s with two main hangs of 10 per-side, 16 JBL Vertec VT4880A subs were flown in on four per-side hangs, eight JBL CSR subs were ground stacked with four per-side, and JBL VRX932LA’s were used as centre-fills. Crown I-Tech 4000, 6000, and 8000 amplifiers powered the entire system, and the FOH was mixed using the Soundcraft Vi6 digital mixing console running the new Version 3.0 software. Svein Solberg, Satyricon’s FOH Engineer, was working on the Vi6 for the first time and stated, ”This is as comfortable as working on any analogue console, and the ease of operation allowed me to mix on the console with little prior experience. The Vertecs are loud and clean T The Great Indian Rock 2008 At Bangalore sounding boxes, and this is indeed the best sounding system that we’ve operated in India.” Vishnu, Director of V&P Sound, was overwhelmed with the overall response from the artists, the FOH Engineers, and the fans. Vishnu stated, “It is a pleasure working with the Vi6 and the Vertecs. Setting up the Vertec system is extremely fast and simple, and the amazingly clean sound is credited to the V4 presets developed by Paul Bauman, Director of tour sound product and application engineering.“ The stage monitoring system was equipped with 10 VRX915Ms, two VRX915Ms, and two PRX518S/230s along with two PRX 512M/230s used as the drum-fills. The side-fills were four VRX932LAs and four VRX918Ss. The monitors and side-fills were bi-amped using Crown ITechs and managed by another dbx DriveRack 4800. ne of India’s leading global integrated media and entertainment groups, UTV, recently purchased the new Allen & Heath ZED-12FX USB mixer for its dubbing division. UTV is involved in production and distribution for movies, broadcasting, interactive (gaming), television, and new media (Web, mobile, and IPTV). Based in India, the company has operations across the UK, USA, Middle East, and Australia, and has one of the biggest dubbing facilities in India with a presence in three Indian cities. UTV’s client list includes National Geographic Channel, O UTV Invests In Allen & Heath The History Channel, Bindass, Disney, TV18, and Hungama TV. The new ZED-FX mixer has been installed in UTV’s Delhi sound studios, which have state-of-the-art dubbing equipment. “Since we founded the business in 1990 we have installed Allen & Heath mixers in our studios as they always meet our requirements and budget,” explains UTV Dubbing Division’s Technical Manager, Rajesh Nair. “The ZED-FX is the perfect solution for the dubbing studio, as we only needed a few inputs but good quality effects for TV production.” JBL Praja n enthusiastic crowd of more than one million gathered to witness and support the establishment of a new political party in India. Launched by Chiranjeevi, one of the biggest stars in the Indian film industry who has now entered into politics, the new party’s name is Praja Rajyam (People’s Rule). The fledgling party’s event organisers chose the Ava Lila Tank site in the city of Tirupati, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, to unveil its political programme. Speeches, film clips, and choreographed dance segments were included in the event. Sound reinforcement services for the ambitious multi-media outreach were supplied through a coordinated effort by Taher Sound & Lights of Hyderabad and V&P Sound of Bangalore. “The venue selected for the huge outdoor gathering was very wide, and four main scaffold-based array hangs were designed for long-throw coverage, including a total of 44 JBL VT4889 full-size line array elements,” said Zakir Hussain of Taher Sound & Lights.
