www.audiomedia.com Once More With Feeling Back on the road for The Feeling’s last UK tour supporting their Join With Us album. Before embarking on their current writing and recording break, British pop-rockers The Feeling spent November touring Ireland and the UK. Front of House Engineer Jon Sword selected a Turbosound’s Aspect system, and added a number of Flex Array cabinets. Whilst the variety of venue size on the tour meant that the system had to be adapted frequently, Sword claims that the Turbosound cabinets provided sufficient headroom to avoid ever pushing the system too far. “For me, a system has to be very powerful but very smooth,” commented Sword. “If you like to mix loud, like I do, you don’t want to hurt people. The clarity of the Aspect and Flex Array speakers means you don’t get that additional colouration and distortion, you just get the power.” At FOH, Sword relies on the audio system to adapt to his dynamic mixing style. “I’m always pushing dynamics,” he explained. “I’ve been with this band since the year dot, and there’s a great deal of interaction between what they play and what I do… I’m not content to sit there and just balance things, because I don’t think that’s what music is all about.” Turbosound + www.turbosound.com This year’s MTV Europe Music Awards were held at the Liverpool Echo Arena, and featured performances from Take That, The Killers, Beyonce, and Kanye West, to name a few. An L-Acoustics V-DOSC line source array system was used by Britannia Row for the event. “Using L-Acoustics’ presets, I was able to create a smooth low frequency sound throughout the audience,” commented Systems Engineer Sergiy Zhytnikov. w www.l-acoustics.com Delta Sound Consolidates Middle East Market Delta Sound has made good use of its new DigiCo D Live in recent months, supplying touring equipment to big names in the Middle East. Recent customers of Delta Sound include George Michael and Maroon . “It’s great to have access to DiGiCo products in the Middle East,” commented Front of House Engineer, Jim Ebdon. “It means that I can just take my settings with me on a USB key, rather than having to ship large amounts of kit.” This is a major consideration for Ebdon, who prefers to keep his FOH booth streamlined, with only a handful of outboard. “On this occasion it was particularly useful, because the other option available would have meant using two desks instead of just the one D . Delta Sound’s expanding catalogue of equipment that is familiar to the touring market has made the company a popular choice for artists visiting the Middle East. “We moved to larger premises and have made a substantial investment in our rental stock,” explained Delta Sound’s CEO, Andy Jackson. “We now have enough kit to service major acts that come to the region.” Delta Sound + () www.deltasound.co.uk TC-Helicon has released a software update and several application videos for Harmony-M, its vocal harmony device for MIDI keyboard players. NaturalPlay, an intelligent harmony arrangement algorithm in Harmony-M, provides a variety of voicing options, including bass voicing, unique to Harmony-M, which follows the root of the current chord. w www.tc-helicon.com Gearhouse South Africa supplied rigging, lighting, sound, and video for Rod Stewart’s recent South African tour. The Gearhouse Audio team used varying sizes of L-Acoustics VDOSC rig for the shows.
