AudioMedia - March 2009 - (Page 49) > enables the user to monitor the phase relationship between the left and right channels, and Sonoris plans to support the ITU-R BS 1770 and BS 1771 standards in the near future. The Sonoris meter is available for VST host on the Windows platform and for Sawstudio. www.sonoris.nl TC Electronics has upgraded its P2 level pilot Loudness Controller and Limiter to comply with the BCAP ITU-R BS 1770 regulations. The unit is a realtime loudness controller, multi-band processor and limiter designed for use in video and post production. Easy to use, the one-key set-andforget operation means that hundreds of presets and parameters are available for use by a system installer or the station’s audio engineer. Individual units are easily cloned, simplifying the maintenance of a large studio complex. For expert preset programming and remote control, a computer can be used to adjust all parameters via the included Icon program. P2 comes pre-loaded with a wide variety of international standard presets out of the box, which can be used as starting points for further adjustments. Balanced and unbalanced AES/EBU I/O is standard, and outputs are always active while sample rate conversion can be invoked when using digital inputs. TC Electronics also ship the LM5/LM5D plugin for Pro Tools|HD. The ‘D’ version supports the BCAP ITU-R BS 1770 regulations, and also adds two long-term Universal Descriptors, Centre of Gravity and Consistency, whereby any sports, news, music, commercial, film, programme or track may be characterised easily and precisely. The software features a meter that displays instant loudness, as well as a loudness history in an intuitive fashion for multiple genres and formats. The meter not only measures dialogue loudness with accuracy, but any type of content in any format from mono to 5.1. which complies to the latest BCAP regulations. Unlike traditional volume management solutions, this innovative solution uses Neural Audio’s perceptual loudness measurement tool to model how the human ear will perceive the loudness of the audio content. By accounting for the human experience of listening, Neural Audio’s loudness measurement accommodates both stereo and multi-channel audio equally well. The functions of the NLC are also soon to be added as options to the following Harris products: 6800+ Distribution Amplifier NEO XHD-3903 Video/Audio Processor Module X85 Multiple Application Platform www.tcelectronic.com The Harris Neural Loudness Control system is a one rack unit device that provides “Real-time measurement and control of loudness from the broadcast facility that guarantees a consistent viewer experience, independent of consumer equipment”, and www.broadcast.harris.com Our Smallest Sound Pro MKE 1 Whether for musicals and live shows, or for broadcasting applications, the MKE 1 – Sennheiser’s smallest clip-on microphone – performs at its best in all situations where a microphone needs to be virtually invisible and still offer outstanding sound quality.
