Both contain Polyglass coned, drive unit woofers, and aluminium-magnesium inverted dome tweeters. User adjustable settings include sensitivity, volume, high pass filter, and LF and HF shelving. The speakers are also supplied with a rubber decoupling table stand for vertical and horizontal use, and two adjustable front spikes for soundstage height control. The 8250A bi-amplified DSP monitoring system from Genelec delivers a frequency response of 38Hz-20kHz to engineers with limited space. They integrate Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) that ensures balanced frequency response in on and off-axis listening positions. Via the GLM control network, adjustment of levels, distance delays, and flexible room response improvement equalisation can be achieved using the company’s automated calibration system (Autocal). Exigy’s S412G is a four-way, fully active, high SPL, non-ported, direct radiator loudspeaker initially designed for Germano Studios in New York. Designed to move beyond the widely used 2x15 horn systems, though with similar SPL, it is driven with the Exigy DA4800 four-channel class D amp with 24/96 networked DSP in every channel. Each driver has its own channel – eight per cabinet. Systems are carefully optimised to the studio by Exigy. www.exigy.co.uk www.focalprofessional.com www.genelec.com Far by ATD2 has an intelligent range of digital, active, three-way monitors in its XM series. All speakers in the range utilise CAC (Centre Acoustic Coherence) technology, which causes the medium-tweeter to behave as a point source. Thanks to this coherent approach, loss of reference is eliminated when switching between differently sized monitors. The option of controlling up to seven loudspeakers and two subwoofers is provided via the Far Link network. Completing Fostex’s PM series is the ‘ultra compact’ PM0.4. Lending itself to desktop use, professional console-top studio monitoring, and audio installations, the monitors’ small size also makes them convenient for portable applications. The bi-amp design drives 18W through both LF and HF drivers. The 4-inch woofer and UFLC 0.65-inch soft dome tweeter are housed in a glossy black front baffle. Harman-owned JBL Professional unveiled its new LSR2300 series studio monitor system at NAMM this year. The series features two bi-amplified studio monitors, the 8-inch LSR2328P and the 5-inch LSR2325, which both include low and high frequency trim controls. The LSR2310SP 10-inch sub-woofer, with 180W power amplifier and a frequency range of 28Hz-750Hz, extends the response of the system below 30Hz. www.atd2.com adAT4050(audio media)186x129mm.qxd:Mise en page 1 www.fostexinternational.com 9/06/08 16:18 Page 1 www.jblpro.com AT4050: created by one, used by everyone. Before a product becomes so legendary that it is used by everyone, someone has to create it. When Akino-san, an employee of Audio-Technica for many years, spent hundreds of hours on the creation of the AT4050, he was working to obtain the AT4050’s superb quality of sound reproduction. Not only did he succeed in his ambition, but today, the AT4050 is used all over the world in a wide variety of applications, from recording studios to live sound to broadcast. And when he’s not creating legends, Akino-san loves the serenity of fishing. Audio-Technica’s range of studio microphones start from just £100*.
