AudioMedia - March 2009 - (Page 56) PRODUCT SAMPLER | STUDIO MONITORS Lipinski prides itself on being the only audiophile manufacturer active in both the recording arts and engineering sciences, and its presence in highly respected institutions and studios around the globe backs this up. The L-707 main speaker provides a frequency response of 56Hz-20kHz ±1dB (31Hz-40kHz ±3dB) from one 1-inch tweeter and two 7-inch mid woofers in MTM configuration within a sealed enclosure, which the company believes ensures accurate, uncoloured referencing. The rather slick-looking Studiophile DSM1 (6.5”) and DSM2 (8”) from M-Audio integrate DSP technology, onboard digital control, anodizedaluminium cone LF drivers and Teteron soft fabric neodymium HF drivers, with built-in heat sinks. They are the result of a collaboration with sister-company Digidesign, which lent its expertise in DSP technology to manage the digital crossover, EQ, and acoustic space controls. The O 410 from Klein + Hummel is a distillation of 40 years of monitor design that all started with the world’s first ever active, multi-channel studio monitor, the OY, in 1967. The O 410 are three-way, mid-field monitors, which can also perform as main monitors, with a frequency response ranging from 30Hz to 24KHz (±3 dB). The waveguide features Mathematically Modelled Dispersion that ‘correlate objective measurements and subjective perception’. www.klein-hummel.com www.lipinskisound.com www.m-audio.com Hot out of the manufacturing plant last month was KRK System’s R6 passive studio monitor, which borrows the ‘radically-radiused’ baffle of the Rokit range for reduced diffraction distortion, and a greater sweet spot than flatter edged models. The R6 also incorporates a frontfacing bass port that KRK states “minimises lowfrequency phase distortion and unwanted frequency emphasis typical of rear-facing bass ports.” Building upon the reputation of the HR Series, Mackie’s HRmk2s (High Resolution Active Studio Reference Monitors) are designed to complement high-definition audio, cinema, and gaming systems. The new HR824mk2 and HR864mk2 models were designed in conjunction with the guys from EAW, and are both THX pm3 certified. Handy extras include Overload Protect – a flashing of the power light when the signal level of the input becomes too high. The MF2 and MF3 monitoring systems from Munro Acoustics are an evolution of the M3F and M3FX systems, and are designed for film/TV post production and bespoke cinema installations. The systems utilise Dynaudio drive units throughout with a strict avoidance of compression drivers and horns, which the company believes ensures 'superior sound quality'. Matching surround speakers and subwoofers are available, as are a range of amplifier and processor packages. www.krksys.com www.mackie.com www.munro.co.uk ASP8024 One analogue world hundreds of studios thousands of users Prices start from around £12,000 plus VAT and Delivery.
