AudioMedia - March 2009 - (Page 62) www.audiomedia.com NEW PRODUCT Electro-Voice has unleashed the new N8000-1500 with FIR drive, which the company claims is the most powerful loudspeaker controller currently on the market. The new system is capable of processing over 1,500 MIPS, more than twice as many as the previous N8000 model. ElectroVoice has also announced a new series of amplifiers in the Q Series, comprising four fresh models to choose from. www.electrovoice.com NEW PRODUCT It’s The One That They Want Midas PRO6 gets the thumbs up in two recent installations. Midas’ PRO6 live audio system has been doing the business recently in a number of applications across the globe. A production of the musical Grease at the 5,500 capacity Oslo Spektrum arena, used a PRO6 loaned by local technical suppliers AVAB CAC. Thomas Wold (monitors) and Stein Andre Hovden (FOH), also from AVAB CAC, had ten days to acquaint themselves with the PRO6 before the opening night. As well as being impressed by its sound and easy automation system, Hovden also commented, “Another plus was the easy access to my 25 band channels and 15 main actors; it’s amazing to be able to navigate so fast between 64 channels using only 12 channel faders.” Calling once again on Midas’ console experience is the Empire Theatre in the Queensland city of Toowoomba, the first theatre in Australia to install a Midas Heritage 2000 in the late 90s, and now the continent’s first performing arts centre to acquire a PRO6. Head of Audio, Ralph Atkinson, wanted to maintain the audio quality of the older analogue console while upgrading to the greater flexibility and extra features that digital consoles can provide. This all comes as Midas celebrates the shipping of its 100th PRO6 unit. Midas Consoles + () www.midasconsoles.com As well as announcing a whole new product line to be unveiled at Prolight + Sound this year, Adamson also has a new addition to the M-series of monitors. The M12 is a low profile stage monitor featuring the ND12L, Adamson’s first lightweight, longexcursion 12” Kevlar neodymium driver. The Kevlar cones also ensure durability in wet conditions making the M12 suitable for outdoor events. www.adamsonproaudio.com Believe Tour Trusts Meyer Sound Currently powering Criss Angel’s Believe tour at Luxor Las Vegas, are Meyer Sound’s loudspeaker and the Matrix audio show control system. A CueConsole modular control interface is employed to manage FOH functions, with system outputs routed to a total of self-powered Meyer Sound loudspeakers, all supported by the -input Matrix . Loudspeakers are either connected directly to the Matrix or – as with the M’elodie and MICA line arrays – via a G alileo loudspeaker management system. The M’elodie line array loudspeakers are also complementing a Las Vegas-inspired spectacular taking place at the Friedrichstadtpalast venue in Berlin. The newly installed audio system was chosen after sampling three separate systems for three months each. The network is also managed by the Galileo system, which can be controlled with a wireless tablet PC running the Compass control software. Meyer Sound +( ) www.meyersound.com Orbital Sound, the exclusive UK distributor for HME’s entertainment-sector products, has announced the release of HME’s new DX121 One-to-One Digital Wireless Intercom.
