Designed by Walters-Storyk Design Group and owned by Shaul Dover, the 1060ft2 site comprises a 400ft2 two-storey high live room with two 50ft2 Iso booths, plus a 450ft2 control room designed to accommodate long session work. The search for the right designer led Shaul to WSDG, whom John Storyk had impressed with his work at the Jazz At Lincoln Centre Complex. This had particular importance as the studio is keen to focus on a jazz-oriented client base. Shaul Dover said, “The key for me was to create an environment where artists could focus on their creativity. The vibe is as important as our collection of analogue and digital gear.” The studio is outfitted with Dynaudio BM15A 5.1 surround 5.1 speakers with BM12S Sub, Dangerous Monitor Control with ST and SR Expender, a Studer A800 (2-inch 24-track) tape machine, controlled and synchronised with Euphonix 5MC Nuendo, Pro Tools HD 7.3 and LE 7.3, Logic Pro 8, and a Lynx Aurora console. John Storyk said of the studio design, “This is a full room-within-room design with concrete slabs, IAC doors, and lots of glass. We took great care in tuning the rooms to ensure the accuracy of the reverb and frequency response.” Sweatshop Studios +1 914 600 2034 www.sweatshopstudios.com Walters-Storyk Design Group www.wsdg-ftp.com Summit Audio ECS410 ‘Everest’ Channel Strip Summit Audio has announced the release of the ECS410 Everest channel strip featuring discrete four section analogue channel strip with tube/solid state preamp, passive EQ, dual mode dynamics, DriveBus output, and single touch routing via TouchPatch.
