Improvements include a 1/30th octave FFT analyzer, doubling the ETG resolution, an Early Decay Time (EDT) measurement, noise criterion curves overlay on the RTA, improved speech intelligibility (STIPA) and multi-band decay test measurement functions with memory to store test results, the addition of noise criteria computation per-band, 140V and 200V computation to the Impedance Meter and LEQ measurements to the TDA. According to Sencore, the SoundPro EX makes easy work of analyzing an acoustic space and/or sound system and its components. The SoundPro EX is currently available with a base price is $3,995. Firmware options include Multi-band RT60 ($95), Time Delay Analysis ($795), Speech Intelligibility ($395), Terralink Software ($295), Stethoscope ($95), Tech Bench ($295), Noise Curves ($195). It comes with a Type 2 standard measurement microphone, XLR cable, USB cable, impedance test cable, power adapter/charger, battery and carrying case. Visit www.sencore.com or call 800-736-2673. SWITCHER SCALER Designed to consolidate AV installations, the TVB-400 from Hall Research Technologies combines video switching and scaling features with optional audio switching. The TVB-400 series can accept Component (SD and HD from 480p to 1080i), S-Video (NTSC or PAL), Composite (NTSC or PAL) and PC (RGBHV from VGA to UXGA) inputs. It can both switch and scale the output to the desired resolution while optionally switching the audio from each of the inputs to the output. The unit has controls for input switching, output resolution, picture adjustment, aspect ratio, digital noise reduction, 3D enhancement and the volume for each input. The unit can be controlled via the front panel controls, IR remote or RS232 control software. Output resolution can be set as either Component Video (YPbPr from 480p to 1080i) or PC (VGA - 640x480 to SXGA - 1280x1024). The TVB-400 and TVB-400A (audio) units are priced at $745 and $845 respectively. Each unit comes in a sturdy metal enclosure and ships with all the required cables, adapters, IR remote and Windows-based RS-232 control software. Visit www.hallresearch.com, or call 800-959-6439. MIXER-AMPLIFIERS Crown announces the new 135MA and 160MA mixer-amplifiers. Capable of providing both eight-ohm and constant voltage outputs (70V and 100V), the 135MA and 160MA are easily configurable for a variety of uses, including paging, background music, music-on-hold, security use, and safety/evacuation announcements, according to Crown. Each housed in a highly compact halfrack-space chassis, the 135MA is equipped with three inputs and a 35W amplifier output, while the 160MA provides four inputs and a 60W amplifier output. Both models provide priority muting, which can be voice-activated or triggered via an external switch, and are compatible with microphones requiring phantom power. Convection cooled, the new mixer-amplifiers feature sophisticated protection mechanisms, including current limiting, over-temperature thermal cutout, and DC-fault load protection. The units are also protected against turn-on/turn-off “thumps.” The 135MA lists at $199 MSRP and the 160MA is $325 MSRP. Visit www.crownaudio.com, or call 574-294-8000. FLOOR MONITOR LOUDSPEAKERS Danley Sound Labs has introduced the SH-LPM, a compact, low-profile, full-range floor monitor for live sound applications in houses of worship, commercial theater, performing arts centers, among others. The SH-LPM features wide dispersion sound projection in a horn-loaded system in a birch ply enclosure with a robust steel grill and a fully enclosed and protected connector panel. The large horn mouth offers substantial directivity through 110 degrees conical dispersion with excellent front-to-back rejection and greater gain before feedback, a critical factor in many stage monitor applications, according to the company. The SH-LPM is capable of a maximum SPL of 120 dB continuous or 123 dB program, with a sensitivity of 95dB SPL. Power handling is 400 watts continuous, 800 watts program. The SH-LPM measures operates across a frequency range of 65 Hz - 20 kHz (+/- 3 dB) and costs $1,995 (Pro User Net).
