Drivers and crossover networks have been redesigned so that all of the low frequency drivers in twoway systems now feature aluminum demodulating rings to minimize the variation in voice coil inductance as the coil moves in the gap. Martin claims that this results in improved midrange clarity and reduced intermodulation distortion at high excursions, ensuring that the sound balance and quality are maintained even at high levels. Special attention has also been given to matching the directivity of the low frequency (LF) drivers to the high frequency horns in the crossover region. The new design ethos for Blackline+ has been applied to eight full range cabinets (U.S. list prices starting at $899) and four complementary sub-bass enclosures (U.S. list prices starting at $1,199). PRESENTATION SWITCHERS The Solecis product line extends AMX’s AV distribution capabilities beyond matrix switching to include standard switchers, presentation switchers and distribution amplifiers for smaller, single-room environments. Solecis Presentation Switchers are designed for applications requiring the display of composite or S-Video sources, in addition to RGBHV, via a single projector/display. They enable control of the projector/display via an integrated RS-232 output, thus negating the need for a supplemental control device such as a handheld remote or integrated control system. The Solecis AVS-SL-PR-0201-0301 Presentation Switcher is configured for 4x1 RGBHV, 6x1 S-Video, 10x1 Stereo, and has an MSRP of $955. Visit www.amx.com. DISPLAY WALL SYSTEM The new TVC-1210 display wall controller (shown) and RPMSP-D275U rear-projection engine from Christie Digital is targeted for control room display systems. The new TVC1210 controller is the next evolution of the Christie TVC1200 and features the latest Intel Xeon single quad-core processing technology. The server-based system features high performance multi-video capability (with up to 16 realtime videos per display) and the flexibility to accept multiple external video, RGB and client desktops for display anywhere and any size. A new switch fabric option provides vastly increased PCI bandwidth, allowing more RGB input sources to be simultaneously displayed across the display wall at very high refresh performance. The new Christie RPMSP-D275U rearprojection engine features a dual 275 watt lamp system. Visit www. christiedigital.com. HD PROJECTOR Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division introduces the FL7000U, its first ultra bright 1080p HD projector for commercial, home theater and education installations. With 5000 lumens with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, the projector uses three robust 1.1 inch 3LCD inorganic panels. According to the company, the projector is ideal in larger home theaters or commercial venues such as sports bars, restaurants or hotel conference rooms as well as school auditoriums and corporate boardrooms that require full high definition (1920 x 1080 pixels) for HD video or applications such as medical imaging, CAD/CAM designs, geo-spatial mapping, and others. It includes a DVI connector with an HDMI-to-DVI adapter for a wider range of HD connectivity options, and is available in a black or white outer cabinet. The suggested price of Mitsubishi’s FL7000U is $14,995.
