New this year are the FSB 2 & FSB 6 fluid heads for miniDV and HDV camcorders. The new fluid heads are the first on the market to support payloads from 0 to 2kg/0 to 4.4 -lb (FSB 2) and 1 to 6kg/2.2 to 13.2-lb (FSB 6). The award-winning FSB 6 fluid head is engineered to offer low mass cameras the characteristically smooth pan and tilt movement that operators have enjoyed with larger camera packages on heavy-duty fluid heads. Sachtler’s engineers employed the same fluid head dampening technology customers have come to expect from the company’s larger heads. The FSB 6 has three dampening steps in both pan and tilt directions, as well as a zero setting, which deactivates dampening. The head sports a 10-step counterbalance system and has a tilt range of +90° / -70°. FSB 6 utilizes Sachtler’s patented Snap & Go Sideload camera plate attachment system for quick transition from tripod mounted to hand-held operation. The Snap & Go system offers over 4.5” (120mm) sliding range, allowing the operator to center the camera system’s c.g. on the head. The FSB 6 can also be delivered with Sachtler’s classic Touch & Go® camera plate. When combined with Sachtler’s award-winning FSB Cell, a powerful 7.2 Volt lithium ion rechargeable battery that fits directly below the camcorder, the fluid head becomes a real powerhouse. The new FSB Cell is engineered to supply all-day (8-hour) power to new generation compact DV and HDV camcorders while simultaneously adding ballast weight to the camera when tripod mounted or handheld. When used with Sachtler’s FSB 6 fluid head, a stabilizer system or hand-held, it adds a carefully positioned 1.4 lb. (0.65kg) mass, facilitating smooth pans and tilts that may otherwise be challenging with lightweight camcorders. FSB Cell measures 7.1” x 3.5” x 1.8” (18cm x 9cm x 4.5cm). It incorporates ADVERTORIAL the Sachtler Snap & Go camera attachment system into its top and bottom surfaces for sure and easy connection between the camcorder and Sachtler fluid head. Thus the operator can quickly convert from tripod mount to hand-held use. To facilitate optimum balance, the FSB Cell offers a sliding range that expands to 225mm. The FSB Cell is compatible with popular lightweight camcorders from Sony, Canon and Panasonic via optional adapter cables. The system comes complete with the global FSB Cell charger (90 - 250 VAC 50/60 Hz input). Also new from Sachtler is the ACT 2 Spring Arm for camera stabilizing systems including the artemis EFP, EFP Pro SDI HD, Cine, and Cine HD. ACT 2 delivers breakthrough functionality, easy set-up and enhanced performance in a surprisingly lightweight yet robust package.
