Digital Video - February 2008 - (Page 20) IN REVIEW LEVELCAM ski, I could see great value in the device for those particular applications. The Levelcam will fit on a wide variety of camcorders, from the tiny Canon HV20 all the way up to the Panasonic HVX200. While rated for up to six pounds, it does seem best suited for the smaller cameras. The only real issue I’ve noted in use is a tendency for the unit to sometimes rock slightly on the bottom of the camcorder. This slight slippage will occur even when the unit is locked tightly to the camcorder, and can be addressed by adding a few strips of gaffer tape or an adhesive rubber pad to the unit around the attachment screw. I would like to see a rubberized pad added in a future revision of the unit. Another useful addition would be a second hand grip on the right side of the camera. Levelcam is an effective way to gain additional control over a lightweight handheld camcorder and help combat image shake. While it can be handy in a wide variety of applications, I personally found it most useful in fast-action situations, particularly when shooting from the waist and/or at low angles.
