Below is a veritable smorgasbord of goods to whet your technological appetite. The AG-HPX170 Panasonic’s AG-HPX170 is a fully solid-state P2 HD handheld camcorder with the “widest zoom lens in its class” — a 13X Leica Dicomar manual zoom lens with a 28mm wide-angle setting An HD-SDI interface allows for connection to baseband production and distribution infrastructure. The two-slot, 4.2pound HPX170 is 1080p capable, offers instant random access to recorded HD or SD content and can take a pounding in harsh environments. The HPX170 is equipped with three new, advanced 1⁄3" 16:9 CCDs and a high-performance digital signal processor with 14-bit A/D conversion and 19-bit processing to deliver broadcast-quality, independent frame recordings. The camera provides auto or manual focus and iris. The multi-format camera records in 20 (Only 20?!) HD and SD formats: a variety of 1080i and 720p formats in DVCPRO HD; in 480i in DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO, and in 480i in DV. It’s switchable between 16:9/4:3 aspect ratios. The HPX170 offers a very cool 20-step frame rate selection in 720p mode for variablespeed shooting from 12-60 fps. Advanced gamma functions and settings are onboard, including a CineGamma mode. AVC/H.264 high-profile encoding. The HMC150 records HD in four modes: PH mode (average 21 Mbps, max 24Mbps); HA mode (approx.17Mbps); HG mode (approx.13Mbps); and HE mode (approx. 6Mbps). It captures full horizontal resolution 1920x1080 images at its PH, HA and HG recording modes. The camera can also be set to capture 1280x720 images at PH mode. At its 6Mbps record mode, it captures 1440x1080 HD images for extended HD recording at its lowest bit rate. The HMC150 supports a range of HD formats, including 1080/24p, 1080/60i and 720/60p. The camera features three native 16:9 progressive 1⁄3" CCD imagers, enhanced by a high-performing digital signal processor with 14-bit A/D conversion and 19-bit processing. Its 13X Leica Dicomar manual zoom lens offers a 28mm (35mm equivalent) wide-angle setting (“the widest in its class”). The HMC150 provides auto or manual operation of focus and iris, and automatic optical image stabilization (O.I.S.). It also features a range of selectable gamma functions including Cine-like gamma.
