SAN RAFAEL CA JUNE, 2010 We’re out on our deck. A filmmaker friend, Caroline, has come to inspect my homemade pole-arm camera. She’s about to leave for eight months of shooting in China. She’ll be producing, directing and doing the camerawork. Brave girl. Minor problem: she can’t speak Chinese. Over the chicken salad, Tricia says, “Have you seen the movie 2046?” “No, why?” John Wayne — one week for $100K. Music from Abbey Road — $500 gets it all!. “It was shot by an Australian cameraman.
