But while I’d love to lay claim to all the credit, the show was, in fact, a joint effort made possible not only by the herculean feats of our NewBay Media crew — led by exec VP Carmel King, group publisher Eric Trabb and intrepid show director Denise Miller — but the indispensible help of many key companies, organizations and individuals. Here are a few I’d like to personally thank: Panasonic, which was not only our Platinum Sponsor, but hosted a series of excellent (and well-attended) free AVCCAM seminars conducted by Bernie Mitchell. All of our exhibitors, because without them, there’d be no show. George Spiro Dibie, ASC, who organized our standing-room-only “Master Classes in Lighting” discussion sessions with his fellow members of the American Society of Cinematographers. Michael Horton and the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group, which held a great on-site evening meeting. Tech guru Larry Jordan, who (with Horton) conducted live Digital Production Buzz programming — including interviews with yours truly — from the show floor. James Mathers (whose grace under pressure and willingness to go above and beyond was more than welcome) and the Digital Cinema Society, which demonstrated Sony’s astonishing new 4K digital theatrical projection system. Bob Primes, ASC, who spoke enthusiastically about Sony’s PMWEX1 and EX3 camcorders.
