Keyboard Presents Korg Product Spotlight - (Page 4) M3 (CONTINUED ) controller to vary any part of the sound that can be modulated – filters, volume, effects, LFOs – this new dimension of expression and fun isn’t possible with wheels and sliders since multiple parameters can be manipulated at the same time by simply moving your finger around. Many users like to remix Combinations involving up to 16 timbres (some driven by KARMA) and perhaps a Drum Track. The M3 is now fully integrated into your production world, acting as a powerful controller (read back a few paragraphs if you’ve forgotten all the cool things we discussed), awesome synthesizer/sampler, 2 in / 6 out effects processor, and general inspiration-maker that won’t make your computer break a sweat. Think of the M3 as a co-processing engine, actually adding power and sound capabilities to your system. The net result? Fun and creativity – and isn’t that what’s most important? Click on the video below to see and hear it all come together under the capable hands of jazz wunderkind Eldar as accompanied by a pioneer in the DJ/fusion world—DJ Logic. Enjoy! Click play to hear a few examples of this in action… Again, you can capture this into the Sequencer with easy One-Touch Record. Plays Well with Others Up to now we’ve been exploring the expressive and creative aspects of a workstation like the M3 that benefit from a well-thought-out integrated piece of hardware, standing on its own. But the M3 has also been designed to integrate into the computer-based DAW world in a number of ways. Built-in USB MIDI connectivity alleviates the need for a separate MIDI interface (the M3 has drivers to show up in the DAW/software of your choice). Korg offers Patch Lists for all the major applications for easy sound selection by name. Just point your browser to www.korg.com/service/downloads.asp and select M3. Even better–– simply load the included Editor/Librarian into a virtual instrument slot and the M3 can be treated just like any other soft-synth. It gives you a complete graphical representation of all the M3 parameters and modes for on-screen operation. And when you add the EXBFW Firewire option and you get both MIDI (16 channels) and audio (2 in/6 out) communication with your computer via a single cable – now we’re talking! 4 http://www.korg.com/service/downloads.asp
