The AT8004 and AT8004L are traditionalstyle handheld interviewer microphones. Utilizing a dynamic element the 8004s have an omnidirectional pattern. A steel grille protects the element from bumps and bruises while an internal shockmount counters any handling noises. XLR connectors mate the mics with standard recorders. The AT8004 is almost 6 inches long. The 9.5-inch AT8004L is a longer version designed for use with station/network flags. Also in the tradition of the new is the AT2020 USB. This new microphone is a USB version of Audio-Technica’s popular AT2020 microphone. Details-wise, the AT2020 USB is a cardioid patterned microphone with a condenser element. The drivers are 45 millimeter drivers with neodymium magnets. The earcups are of a circumaural design with a 180-degree range of motion. The company describes it as the “missing link” that turns a PC or laptop computer into a complete broadcast studio.
