Then you visited some exhibitors and checked out some of the new products you’ve been looking forward to seeing. Being in a town that never goes to sleep, you will find plenty to do after a day at the NAB Show. GETTING A BITE TO EAT Las Vegas has a disproportionate number of restaurants featuring some of the world’s top celebrity chefs, and you will find an abundance of ethnic restaurants and allyou-can-eat buffets at the various hotels and casinos Fremont Street Chef Mario Batali along The Strip. Plan ahead with reservations as many of the eateries fill quickly, especially with a crowded convention in town. Visit Chef Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill located in Caesars Palace. Flay, host of their peak from California and seafood from the Gulf Coast. Chef Wolfgang Puck takes the prize with five restaurants: Spago and Chinois at The Forum Shops at Caesars; Postrio at The Venetian; Trattoria del Lupo at Mandalay scheduled to open this month, will serve up casual Italian fare such as homemade salami, panini, and gelato. You won’t go hungry in Las Vegas! AND THINGS TO DO The Bellagio offers several things to do if you’re out and about. The world-famous Fountains of Bellagio uses a show of water sprays and light choreographed to opera, classical music and Broadway tunes to entertain visitors in the late afternoon and evening hours. The hotel also features the Conservatory & Botanical Garden with its seasonal splendor of plants, flowers and trees. And the current exhibit in the Gallery of Fine Art showcases the masterpieces by American modernists such as Georgia O’Keefe, Stuart Davis, Marsden Hartley, Arshile Gorky and others. The exhibit runs through October 15, 2008. The tropical theme of the Flamingo Hotel & Casino lends itself appropriately to the Wildlife Habitat, just past the lobby and casino. The habitat is home to over 300 birds, namely a flock of pink flamingos, penguins, swans and ducks. The island on which they live is surrounded by streams and waterfalls teeming with Koi and turtles. At Paris Las Vegas you will find an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower at halfscale. Visitors can ride the elevator to the top for a breathtaking, panoramic view of the Las Vegas valley from 460 feet above the ground. Make sure to take a trip to Fremont Street where you will find downtown’s pedestrian mall, home to legendary casinos such as the Golden Nugget, 60 restaurants and Viva Vision. The Viva Vision canopy, 90 feet above the mall, features a light show to music with 12 million lights and 550,000 watts of concert-quality sound pumped to speakers throughout the venue. But don’t stay out too late! There’s much more to see on the NAB Show exhibit floor! Chef Emeril Lagasse has three restaurants in Las Vegas: his New Orleans Fish House at MGM Grand Hotel; Delmonico Steakhouse at The Venetian; and his newest, Table 10 at The Palazzo. Just opened in February, Table 10 is described as a junction between casual and worldclass dining. The menu features organic and natural meats, produce harvested at Bay; and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at MGM Grand. The Trattoria del Lupo, opened in 2004, offers pizza, antipasto and dessert stations, a glass enclosed area where fresh pasta is made every day, and a wine room surrounded by a spacious bar in the center of the restaurant. B&B Ristorante and Enoteca San Marco, both at The Venetian, are the creations of Chef Mario Batali and his partner, Joseph Bastianich. B&B Ristorante, their first venture in Las Vegas, features an acclaimed blend of Italian food with casual elegance.
