Wallin and Giacchino have worked together on many previous projects, including “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “Mission Impossible 3,” and the “Lost” television series. Four 49 large-diaphragm condensers recently joined their siblings on the scoring stage for “Speed Racer” and inched Wallin that much closer to his sonic vision of a perfectly transparent recording. While recording the music for “Lost” at Capitol Studios, Wallin was so impressed with the Neumann TLM 49’s wide open, truthful and accurate sound that he purchased four of them. Nashville’s OMNIsound Studios recently expanded to develop a state-of-the-art mixing/mastering facility adjacent to its original location. OMNIsound chose GC Pro to equip its new digs, and bought from them a 32-fader ICON integrated console system and DControl from Digidesign with two 16-fader packs, Pro Tools HD3 Accel system, Apogee analog-todigital and digital-to-analog converters, Dynaudio speaker system with two subs, SPL MixDream Analog Summing Unit and various other outboard gear. Jose Hernandez, leader of Mariachi Sol de Mexico, acquired a pair of PMC IB1S Precision Monitors for his Lake Arrowhead Recording Studios. The facility offers digital and analog recording as well as CD mastering and 5.1channel mixing. Other equipment at Arrowhead includes a 96-input Yamaha DM2000 console, Apogee Digital ADX16 converters, and an Apple Mac G5 running Digidesign Pro Tools HD|3 software with MOTU MTP MIDI interface.
