Liquid Saffire 56 is the company’s new flagship 2U multichannel FireWire audio interface. Two of Liquid Saffire 56’s eight preamps utilize the third generation of Focusrite’s Liquid preamp, each providing a choice of 10 different preamp emulations. These include emulations based on the Neve 1073, Pultec MB-1, Telefunken V72 and seven more. A harmonics dial on each Liquid preamp allows the user to compensate for variance in vintage originals of the same model, or to creatively add levels of 2nd, 3rd, and 5th harmonic distortion to shape the preamps performance. It uses phantom power from 15 volts to 48 volts DC. The B-811 is sold in matched pairs as overheads unless otherwise specified. Its applications are varied: The B-811 can be used live, in the studio, for broadcast purposes, and for individual instruments such as violin, guitar, piano, woodwinds, and brass as well as overheads for drums and percussion. The unit features the Additional Switching System (A.S.S.), a 1RU expansion rack which can house up to two modules with the ability to stack two racks, adding four additional functions, all switchable directly from the ST remote. In addition, the company had begun shipping the Uniswitch module for handling video source and KVM switching for multiple computer setups in post-production and film-scoring facilities. Integrated digital source switching reportedly allows the user to monitor all digital sources through the same converters, crucial for true A/B listening comparisons, confidence monitoring, and level matching.
