new studio products Spectrasonics Trilian Virtual Bass Module Spectrasonics has released its virtual instrument Trilian, the successor to the company’s Trilogy bass module. According to the company, the new instrument has a much larger core library and features highly detailed new acoustic, electric and synth basses, as well as enhanced versions of the classic Trilogy sounds. Sporting a new user interface with numerous software innovations, Trilian is the first 64-bit native software based on Spectrasonics’ Steam Engine and is the first virtual instrument to feature full library integration with the company’s flagship Omnisphere synthesizer. The “mid-priced” system offers advantages of the latest innovations while delivering the same level of wind suppression. Comprised of a one-piece web suspension made entirely of durable, flexible, lightweight plastic, the design eliminates the need for elastics, and is engineered to fit all diameters of microphone from 19mm to 25mm. A “pinch release” allows the user to change the position of the suspension in an instant. Other features include an XLR cable with Neutrik NC3 (XLR-style) connectors with gold-finish pins and the new pistol grip handle as standard. Early in 2009, Operating System v1.5 will be released, offering new functionality that is said to allow users to sync as many as four MR-2000S units, for Price: $2,499 list up to 8-track recording/play- Contact: Korg back of DSD audio. www.korg.com When in 1-bit mode, the MR-2000S does not need to use its S/PDIF connectors. One unit is designated the Master and the three others, Slaves. Units can then be armed for record and/or playback, and even to locate various points within the current file.
