The SADiE brand name will be retained, but as part of the Prism Sound business. The acquisition marks a new chapter in the histories of both businesses. The SADiE brand has long been held in high regard by the pro audio and broadcast industries for the quality and performance of its PC-based digital audio workstation products. Prism Sound is best known for its A/D and D/A converters for mastering, tracking and post production. Prism Sound directors, Graham Boswell and Ian Dennis, ne- (www.lectrosonics.com) recently reached a milestone, manufacturing UCR411A digital hybrid wireless compact receiver serial number 10,000. North Hollywood, CA-based Location Sound Corporation purchased the receiver for stock and subsequently sold it to Steve Bedaux C.A.S of CineLUX Sound in Burbank, CA. QSC Ends RAVE; Endorses AudioScience Unit the discontinuation of the QSC (www.qscaudio.com) Audio RAVE series, a need remained for a CobraNet audio interface device. The AudioScience (www.audioscience.com) ASI2416 series of CobraNet devices has been selected by QSC as the recommended replacement for the discontinued RAVE series. In all cases, the ASI2416 line provides the functionality of the RAVE series as well as additional features. The ASI2416 is a modular CobraNet audio interface in a 1U rackmount format. It can accommodate up to four function-specific modules, allowing up to 16 channels of analog or AES/EBU I/O. Each module has an interchangeable connector (terminal block, RJ-45 StudioHub or 50-pin Centronics) for flexibility. COSTA MESA, CA—With gotiated the deal after learning that SADiE Studio Audio and Video Ltd. had gone into administration in February. In an interview with Audio Media International, Boswell explains that, with regard to SADiE, “what we’re doing for the first few months is really to consolidate the present position, and to make sure that we start to promote what is a fabulous product more effectively than it has been promoted. One of the most remarkable things about SADiE is the user base and the loyalty of the customers that are there.” “Which is also another reason why it’s such a good fit,” adds Dennis, “because their philosophy and their customer base, to some extent, is very similar to ours for all the years we’ve been going, so not only do we have a lot of individual customers, but also the type of people who like our products and the type of people who like theirs are quite similar. I suppose having so many customers in common will make the sales and marketing thing a little bit easier than it might have been if it was a completely new market.” Prism Sound’s initial aim is to place the existing SADiE product range on a secure business and financial footing. Existing customers will have full access to product support as before using the same telephone number (+44 1353 648888) and e-mail address (support@sadie.com) as previously. Prism Sound’s sales offices in New Jersey and Cambridge, U.K. are once again accepting new orders. Deliveries will resume almost immediately, according to Prism Sound, although availability of certain products may be limited initially as a result of reduced stock levels during the period of administration. Joe Bull, founder and managing director of SADiE’s former owner, Studio Audio and Video Limited, commented, “It was a very sad day when Studio Audio and Video Limited had to be put into administration, but I’m (continued on page 22) Transom Capital Acquires Blue Microphones LOS ANGELES, CA—Transom Capital Group has completed the acquisition of Blue Microphones, a manufacturer of high-end microphones for the professional audio and consumer markets.
