 December 5, SugarHill Recording Studios (www.sugarhillstudios.com) held a donation drive to collect instruments for distribution to Galveston-area schools devastated by Hurricane Ike. The drive was the Houston component to a statewide drive spearheaded by the Recording Academy Texas Chapter, Grammy Giving to the Gulf, sponsored by Gibson Guitars. The drive was kicked off at the membership’s Latin Grammy Celebration in Houston at House of Blues, with all proceeds from the event going to these efforts. NASHVILLE, TN—The Berry Hill’s The Place NORTHEAST CARLSBAD, CA—Le Mobile (www.lemobile.com) recorded Van Morrison’s first-ever performances of his album, Astral Weeks, in its entirety, in two recent concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. Engineers Mick Glossop and Alastair McMillan are mixing the concerts, working from more than 90 tracks recorded on Le Mobile’s own Apogee-equipped Pro Tools|HD system and a RADAR system brought in for the occasion.
