C O M Portraits of Next time someone laments about “these kids today,” point them to this year’s winners of our student photography contest. Selected from an overwhelming six thousand entries, these images are proof that “these kids today” are not only extremely talented but also powerfully enabled by digital tools that can help them express and communicate those talents. The theme of the Portraits of Learning contest, sponsored by Adobe, was “My Point of View.” We asked students from K-12 to submit their best photos on any subject. Some students used digital tools to manipulate the image to better express their viewpoints. The judges looked for style, creativity, use of light and color, and anything that made the image stand out. This was not an easy chore. The inspired quality of almost all the entries was a testament to both the students and their teachers.
