Technology & Learning - March 2009 - (Page 10) news trends by T&L editors nextbigthing The ultimate interface? Education behemoth Pearson announced in January its intention to create that mythical online place that ties the current helter-skelter of student-portal, assessment-tracking, and coursemanagement “solutions” into one unified environment. Project Tapestry was developed in partnership with more than 500 educators who guided the design of this vendor-agnostic learning platform, which uses the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) specification. The idea will be for teachers, administrators, students, and parents to collaborate from a single, identical location where they can access course materials, track student progress, and improve instruction strategies. Look for it to debut this fall. Price: Not available at press time. For more information, www.pearson.com 10 | TECH & LEARNING http://www.pearson.com
