RUSHWORKS REMO — Remote Production System In 1972, a small Dallas-based audio and video production company, Sundance Productions, leaped into the emerging technology of portable video production. The journey began with U-Matic (3/4”) VCRs, and soon migrated to 2” and 1” production formats. The company built small mobile production vehicles that contained the “essentials” for capturing events with single or multiple video cameras. Over the years, the founder and president of Sundance, Rush Beesley, has continued to develop a succession of technology solutions. In 2001 he created RUSHWORKS, a company that specializes in low-cost, high-performance automation and production systems. RUSHWORKS introduced their popular “TOASTMASTER” digital desktop production system four years ago. This month the much anticipated successor, “VDESK”, is being released. Designed for simple, intuitive operation, it includes a 24” touch screen interface that features what the company calls “TOUCH … TAKE … TITLE” simplicity. Fully integrated with a variety of PTZ cameras, a single operator can preview up to nine user-defined and named presets per camera, touch the preset to preview the shot; and add pre-linked graphic titles … with a single touch. The robust feature set of both systems is impressive: eight synchronized video inputs; a complement of effects that includes dissolves, wipes, split-screen, picture-in-picture, and chroma-key; multi-layer graphics/CG overlay; multi-format digital encoding; video streaming; multi-view display; stereo audio mixer; speaker and headphone monitoring; PTZ camera control; and an optional 8-channel intercom. RUSHWORKS continues to develop other innovative and practical software solutions. MPEG.Rx FILE PHARMACY, downloadable from RushWorksMedia.com, rips content from DVDs and generates MPEG-2 files optimized for playback on virtually any video server. Significantly, it solves the problem of inconsistent audio playback levels by using a sophisticated processing algorithm for ‘intelligent’ spike limiting, compression and normalization to -12dB.
