Chapter Highlights
NEWH Orange County and San Diego County Regional Groups
Orange County Regional Group put together some great programs and networking opportunities
in 2013 highlighted by the first scholarships awarded in November at the Hyatt Regency
Huntington Beach Resort & Spa. Timothy Truong, a senior at Interior Designers Institute, who
plans to pursue a master's degree in interior architecture in the future, was awarded a $2500
scholarship. Our second $2500 scholarship was awarded to Emilie Damgaard, a student in the
Advanced Culinary Arts program at Orange Coast College. As she says, "I was in love the
minute I stepped foot into the professional kitchen." Speakers Angela Allen from Studio
McCormack and Rachel Klemek from Blackmarket Bakery each shared their career
journey and insights. Thank you to the sponsors: Stone Source, Quiltcraft, Innovations, SCI

Both San Diego and Orange County are pleased to work together to bring you the
NEWH BDwest Fashion Runway event in San Diego at Fluxx Nightclub on March 20th.
A great team came together in San Diego to hold the chapter's first Sundowner

event in November. Special thanks to sponsors Koni Hospitality, Atlas Carpet Mills, and
Imoderni. An ambitious slate of programs for 2014 includes networking mixers in March
(the 27th at Stone Brewing Company with guest speaker David Robinson), May, August,
and October, ending the year with a scholarship awards on November 13th.
