Says Lawrence: "From my experience, it is hard work along with earnest and consistent involvement that equally pay off in this industry. What I love most about my involvement with NEWH is that it demonstrates just that, along an evolution of past, present, and future. "Seven years ago, I became involved with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of NEWH as an undergraduate interior design student attending Colorado State University. I was honored to be recognized as a double NEWH Scholarship recipient in 2011. Not only were the scholarship funds an acknowledgment of hard work, but the individuals I met through the process and at the associated award ceremonies have continued to be invaluable professional connections to this day. "These relationships have fostered a number of personal and professional growth opportunities and continue to do so. My NEWH contacts became a valuable resource when pursuing a career move that brought me back to Colorado. I joined the local Rocky Mountain chapter board as a designer completely outside of the hospitality sector. But with a bit of tenacity, and guidance from my NEWH cohorts, I have established myself as a hospitality designer as well as continuing to take on new leadership roles within this vibrant group. "I hope to be involved with NEWH both at a local and national level in the future. I am currently serving my second term as vice president of development of the Rocky Mountain chapter, and I look forward to an upcoming succession into chapter president. This full evolution would not be possible without the incredible foundation of personal and professional relationships realized through NEWH. I am excited and anxious to see what is next!" ❙❘❚ 22
