NEWH - Fall 2016 - 26

Q&A Meet Stacy Costa Atlanta chapter president and hospitality specialist, Koroseal Interior Products Group How did you become involved in NEWH? In 2003, I attended my fi rst NEWH event: the Scholarship Awards Gala at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It was rich with industry professionals, sales reps, purchasers, students, designers, and principals. I remember thinking to myself, 'I want to be a part of this.' What has NEWH done for you, both personally and professionally? Starting as a purchasing agent in the early 1990s, I have grown up in this industry and NEWH has been an instrumental part of my development. NEWH has contributed to my success in sales, in obtaining gainful employment, and most importantly, in forming lasting friendships. Being on the board of NEWH has allowed me to give back to an industry that I love. Looking ahead, what are you most looking forward to in your role with NEWH? My favorite part of the year is coming up, when we award scholarships to deserving hospitality students. These gifted students have fueled my desire to help grow our fundraising events and raise more money for scholarship. Every year our chapter fi nds ways to raise more money and extend our reach to more students. In 2017, I will move into my role as past-president. I look forward to having more time to mentor students and serve on a fundraising committee. What were some of the highlights from the first part of 2016? On January 22nd, the Atlanta chapter hosted its Regional Tradeshow & After-Party at the Cobb Galleria. The highlight was definitely the Panelist Discussion: Hospitality Outlook featuring Atlanta-based industry leaders. On April 26th, our chapter hosted its second annual Student Portfolio at the Porcelanosa showroom where students received informative design advice, career coaching, and résumé review by some of Atlanta's top designers. 26 Tell us about your company. Any recent initiatives or launches? Since its beginnings as a manufacturer of high-quality wallcoverings more than 50 years ago, Koroseal is now a onesource destination for a wide variety of interior products including wallcovering, wall protection systems, tackable surfaces, digital surfaces, acoustical treatments, dimensions metal surfaces, wall finishing, and textiles. I am most excited about our rebranding initiatives to help customers navigate through our family of product both on the web and in their library. What trends are you paying attention to in the industry? I am excited about the projections for new growth and development within our industry. In my experience, in down economic times, the hospitality industry is the fi rst to suffer and last to recover. Since hospitality is my main focus, I am pleased to see it recovering and trending a healthy project pipeline. When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you? David and I love to go on road trips, camping and RVing every chance we get. Any opportunity to get my three beautiful children Brandon, Ashley, and Amber in one room and I'm there. Finally, I absolutely love visiting with my fi rst grandchild, Lana Taylor. ❙❘❚
