How did you become involved in NEWH?

During the second year of the Vancouver region I was asked to help assist in organizing one
of the events, and I really liked the people on the board. They had fresh ideas and brought
something different to the Vancouver area in terms of networking with interior designers. I
loved the ability to give back to our local design community. We have such a talented pool of
students that graduate each year and it is kudos to the fabulous instructors.

What has NEWH done for you, both personally and professionally?

Being involved with the NEWH Board has increased my connection to the design community
and also to my brand. The local interior designers are really receptive to the people who are
supportive of their industry, and being passionate about the success of my colleagues helps
me stand apart.

What are you most looking forward to in your role with NEWH?

Hospitality Supply and Design

I always look forward to our annual fall event the most. Being in a renovated or new hotel
during the holidays is always extra special. The commitment from attendees and sponsors is
so humbling.

Tell us a bit about your company and what's new.

I have been working at Heritage Hospitality Supply and Design for 15 years; it is a division
of Heritage Office Furnishings, which is the Steelcase dealer for Vancouver. Having the
crossover of hospitality furniture and corporate furniture has made me the go-to person
for ancillary products. Steelcase has recently launched partnerships with hospitality/resicommercial companies West Elm, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Extremis, FLOS Lighting, and
Viccarbe.

What is your business outlook for the next year or two?

The market in BC is very strong. It is geared to slow down but hasn't yet, so we'll continue to
work hard so we can retire early.

Latest (personal) travel highlight or plan?

My husband and I are recently married so the next travel plan is a honeymoon; Italy here we
come!

Trend you are paying attention to in the industry?

I really like the blend of hospitality into our workspaces and vice versa. The way we view
space is changing, and it is exciting to talk to all the various NEWH members at events
to learn how we all bring the space together. It is the relationship of the lighting, flooring,
wallcoverings, fabric, furniture, millwork, stone, tile, etc. that makes the space special. A
meeting room turns into a lounge which turns into a restaurant, all in one day.

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

On the off chance I am not working, I will be walking our dog Barley along the seawall and
heading to the brewery. ❙❘❚
