How did you become involved in NEWH?

I was drafted! I wasn't sure what NEWH was or what I was getting into when I found myself
a member and board member at the same time. I am now one of its biggest fans and I urge
everyone to be involved.

What has NEWH done for you, both personally and professionally?

I continue to be amazed at the involvement, purpose, and spirit within our Dallas chapter.
Over the past nine years of my membership in the organization, and participation on the
local and international Board of Directors, I have been exposed to and befriended many
talented, giving, and hardworking individuals. The Dallas hospitality industry, in particular, is
truly a family that works and plays together.

What are you most looking forward to in your role with NEWH?

As director of Leadership Conferences, my focus, along with the committee, has been
the planning of the 2019 Leadership Conference, Chart Your Course, in Miami. My initial
response is to make sure it is a complete success. But I look forward to continuing to work
with the committee and the directors and chairs of the various disciplines and getting to
know everyone on a more personal level.

What were some of the highlights of 2017?

Marrying Roger on May 19, 2017. It does not get much better than that!

Tell us a bit about your company.

The other "R" in Paravars, Roger, and I have strived to position ourselves as design
solutionists rather than just independent manufacturers' representatives. We formed
Paravars with the idea of collaborating with our designers and purchasers in the various
industry segments rather than just selling to them.

What is your business outlook for the next year or two?

Currently, business is booming and we are thankful for it every day. As we all know, it's hard
to say what the future holds in the hospitality industry. It seems that it is cyclical, and I
mostly focus on what's in front of us to maximize the here and now.

Trend you are paying attention to in the industry?

Curated, personalized, and special environments are what really draw my attention. I love all
the small details that properties are infused with these days. Leaving a restaurant or hotel
feeling you've just experienced something special you couldn't get anywhere else is really
the goal, isn't it?

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

It's rare when I am not working or at an NEWH event. I admit, I'm way behind on trying out all
the new Dallas restaurants, bars, and hotspots. On the flipside, I do love my home life. When
not working, traveling, and spending time with friends, my absolute favorite time is a quiet
night at home cooking, listening to jazz, shaking an extra-cold martini (or two), and just
being with Roger and our cat, Dr Nathan. Life doesn't get any sweeter than that. ❙❘❚
