SCHOLARSHIPS

Celebrating Séura Studio Series
The scholarship was presented during BDNY 2017
Séura, a manufacturer of
lighted mirrors, TV mirrors,
smart mirrors and outdoor
TVs, partnered with NEWH
for the second year of the
Séura Studio Series design
competition in an effort to
support design education and
design leadership. The contest was established to showcase the
talents of hospitality designers who are the driving force behind
many of Séura's inspirations and innovations.
Designers were challenged to create lighted mirror designs
that incorporate Séura's new +Color capability, which brings
color to the lighted mirror category. An accomplished panel of
hospitality professionals judged the contest this year, including
Trisha Poole, NEWH past president; Kavitha Iyer, Marriott
International; Stephanie Ward, Park Hotels & Resorts; PJ Barbour,
Marriott Select Brands; Colleen Smith, HBA; and Gretchen
Gilbertson, Séura co-founder and CEO. The scholarship was
awarded at the Boutique Design Power Players: Women Leaders
in Hospitality breakfast and panel discussion during BDNY in
November.
Yuri Tag, designer at Studio McCormack, won the 2017 Studio
Series competition with her
Wanderlust design. As part
Yuri Tag of Studio McCormack with her winning design, Wanderlust
of the honor, Tag had the
$3,000 NEWH Séura Studio
Series student scholarship donated in her name to Britt Barr, an interior design major at the New
York School of Interior Design. Tag's Wanderlust collection can be viewed online at seura.com/
collections/wanderlust and is available for hospitality specification.
