Customer Experience Doesn’t Have To Come At a Premium
Over the past ﬁve years the services export industry has received a major boost, as the value of the Jamaican dollar dropped by more than 20 percent relative to the U.S. dollar. This has strengthened Jamaica’s global wage competitiveness as well as foreign investor purchasing power. Economists assert that this market adjustment reﬂects spiking currency appreciation in major export-driven economies including Brazil and China. Investors also maintain that the currency has stabilized at these low levels. In mid February of 2012 rating agency Fitch upgraded Jamaica's long-term foreign and local currency ratings to "B-" from "CCC" and "C" respectively, with a stable outlook. Rating agency, Standard & Poors followed a week later, hiking its long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit rating on Jamaica to "B-" from "SD" or "Selective Default" with a stable outlook.

Then in March, rating agency Moody's upgraded Jamaica's local and foreign currency bond ratings to B3 from Caa1 on foreign currency and Caa2 on local currency, which it said reﬂected "diminished credit risks following the domestic debt exchange completed in February".
