Approximately 4,400 inquiries were addressed in 2012. • As a result of a full year of advocacy, brought about needed change to the Hospice Medicare Summary Notice. (See March NewsLine.) • Redesigned the Regulatory and Compliance Center to help members find what they need faster, including a Hospice Compliance Calendar, Hospice A to Z, State-specific Resources; and New Tools featuring the latest additions. • Attended all MAC meetings, in person or by phone, to represent the field in discussions concerning provider education, medical reviews, ADR edits, and claims processing issues. • Continued to advocate for rural providers through the NHPCO Rural Task Force. (The Task Force meets monthly and met with the National Rural Health Resource Center in late 2012 to discuss the use of Critical Access illustrated the powerful work of the hospice professional in one of America’s most popular women’s magazines. • Provided outreach and support to national and local media, including ABC News; Associated Press; CNN; Dear Abby; Fox News; Kaiser Health News; Kiplinger’s; Money Magazine; National Geographic; National Public Radio; New York Times; People Magazine; Readers Digest; Reuters; US News & World Report; USA Today; Wall Street Journal; WebMD; and local newspapers across the country. • Served as a resource to industry press, including AMA News; Decision Health; Eli’s; Home Health Line; Hospice Letter; Inside The Joint Commission; Kaiser Health News; McKnight’s LTC; Medical Ethics Advisor; Medicare News Group; Modern Healthcare; Nurse Zone; and Oncology Today. • Distributed an audio news release about the We Honor Veterans initiative that was aired by 903 radio stations nationwide, reaching an estimated 31,181,000 listeners.
