Texas Hospice Promotes Mount Sinai’s New Research—Texas Style!
Texas Hospice, based in Fort Worth, TX, shared
news about the latest research out of Mount Sinai’s
Icahn School of Medicine in a very unusual way—
on a very big billboard! In fact, Stein Hospice in
Somerset, NJ was so impressed, the staff shared the
great photo, along with information about the new
research, on the Stein Hospice blog.
Kudos to the provider-members that are helping
NHPCO—and the entire hospice community—spread
the word on this new research. (See this month’s
cover story and Don’s monthly message to learn more about this research and how NHPCO and the Hospice
Action Network are doing it justice on the Hill!)
Good Shepherd Hospice Names
New Executive Director
Donald Evans, FACHE, has been named executive
director of Good Shepherd Hospice which is based
in Lakeland and provides care in three Florida
counties.

Evans most recently served as a
consultant for Good Shepherd’s
parent organization, Chapters
Health, as the director of business
development. Prior to that,
he was the CEO of the 70-bed
HealthSouth Rehabilitation
Hospital in Largo, FL. In addition,
he has served as CEO for three
large non-profit hospitals.
Hospice of the Valley Awarded
$10,000 Grant for Community
Grief and Counseling
Hospice of the Valley (San Jose, CA) has received
a $10,000 grant from the Intero Foundation
of Cupertino in support of the organization’s
Community Grief & Counseling Center’s children’s
bereavement program. The grant will provide
bereavement support services to approximately 135
children and teens experiencing grief and loss.
The Intero Foundation has raised more than $2
million to benefit children living in the communities
in which it serves. Since its founding in 2002, it has
supported over 70 local charities.
