The company’s long-term objectives are to increase the combined geographic share of revenues of Asia/Pacific, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe from around 20 percent to one-third; to increase the share of revenues of marketing services from 52 percent to two-thirds; and to increase the share of more measurable marketing services from around one-third of its revenues to 50 percent. In 2008, MMC completed a global agency request-for-proposals process and now is consolidating its program. It plans to leverage the consolidated volume to rationalize the travel supplier base and support compliance efforts. MMC has a 49 percent online booking adoption rate on eligible U.S.-booked air tickets, primarily using the GetThere self-booking tool. BTN estimates the new company had $65 million in U.S. booked air volume in 2007. Alcatel-Lucent in the past year-and-a-half has focused on increasing the use of online booking and encouraged travelers to book at least 15 days in advance and to use non-refundable tickets, driving down business travel costs. Company travel policy requires employees to use the GetThere booking tool in the United States and more than a handful of online booking tools around the world in the countries, where available. Promoting self-booking is part of Alcatel-Lucent’s focus on global visibility to know where all travelers are and to track all spending. In 2007, the company homogenized the purchasing of travel through a single mandated agency. Alcatel-Lucent has a global travel team and takes a global as well as local approach to negotiating. It sees itself as airline-agnostic. Eli Lilly had more than $18 billion in sales last year and employed more than 40,000 people. The company used Cliqbook for U.S. online booking and GetThere outside of the United States, and BCD Meetings & Incentives for meetings management. This year, it began to integrate Cliqbook into meetings processes. The firm late in 2005 consolidated its European operation into one center run by Carlson Wagonlit Travel, located outside of Heathrow Airport in London. U.S. Bank is its primary card vendor in the United States, while elsewhere the firm uses American Express as its primary card vendor. Eli Lilly has a consolidated multinational travel program in 16 countries.
